When I picked up the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220, I was really amazed and surprised as to how light it is. It is a full-featured and full-sized flip phone, yet it feels like it is made up of hollow plastic. This somehow gives me a wrong impression that it was made from cheap materials; but nonetheless, it bears the BlackBerry signature at the front of its clamshell body that comes with an LCD screen that serves as an emblem of its modern design.

The screen showcases a digital “analog clock” that also shows the date of the month. The camera is situated at the very top like most other flip phones.

When I opened the phone, another wow factor hit me. The QWERTY keyboard is very elegant and well designed. The keys are flushed and properly spaced from each other, making it very easy to use and it has a wave like pattern that adds a lot of comfort to my fingers.

The main screen is a bit small, but with the 240 X 320 resolution, the picture quality is really good. You just have to get used to the size of the icons.

The 2 Megapixel camera is not worth mentioning, but I will include it anyway since it still serves as a handy additional feature considering the compact design of this phone. The main problem is that the pictures tend to blur out, there is a lot of uneven contrast and sometimes the shots easily get out of focus.

The media player has a cool interface and this phone uses a 3.5mm jack, so you can get the best sound possible using your favorite headphone.

The WiFi support is the key feature of this phone. With a fast web browser, an email client that can handle up to 10 accounts, and an instant messaging application that supports AOL, GTalk, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo; The Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 has become the most stylish internet flip phone.
